History of the Gestüt Görlsdorf
The Görlsdorf homebred three year old SEA THE MOON (Photo) canters to win the 145. German Derby (Gr.1) at Hamburg by eleven lengths. Early he won the Gr.3 Frühjahrspreis des Bankhauses Metzler at Frankfurt/Main and the Gr.2 179. Oppenheim-Union-Rennen at Cologne. Because of an injury he has to end his racing career prematurely and becomes a stallion at Lanwades Stud in Newmarket. Thanks to SEA THE MOON and other successes of BERLIN BERLIN (runner-up in the Gr.1 Grosser Preis von Berlin) and WUNDER (winner of the Gr. 3 Prix Chloe at Chantilly) 2014 is the most successful year ever for Görlsdorf. For the first time ever Görlsdorf wins the German titles for best owner and best breeder.
On September, the eighth, HEY LITTLE GORL (Photo) wins the German St. Leger (Gr.3) at Dortmund – the first classic win for the green and white Görlsdorf colours since reunification. BORN TO RUN wins the Gr. 3 Preis des Winterfavoriten.
In the end it turns out to be best season so far: 300.000 Euros in price money and ranked as number ten in the breeding statistics.

The Red Army chase away the aristocratic owners of Görlsdorf and all horses. The stud is nationalized and turned into a "VE Görlsdorf".
In the 1930ies Görlsdorf has another heyday under the leadership of Victoria von Redern. In 1935 GOLDTALER (winner in the Grosser Preis von Horst and the Grosser Preis von Danzig) just looses out in the Union-Rennen and Henckel-Rennen to Derby winner STURMVOGEL. Other top class horses are ADANA, HEIDEKONIGIN, HEIDEROSE, VARDAR (winner of the Grosser Preis von Hannover) and YVORNE.
After the death of the stud's founder his oldest sister Victoria von Redern took over - together with her husband Ernst Prince to Lynar - Count von Redern. They built the main house for the stud manager which still exists today.
Towards the end of the Great War the horses of Schlenderhan stud find a contemporary home at Görlsdorf.
Görlsdorf has 30 broodmares.
